RELEASE|December 22, 2022

State Rep. Ben Frederick of Owosso today released the following statement after Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed two pieces of legislation he sponsored to enhance the Michigan Reconnect Program and promote language options for children who are deaf or hard of hearing.

“Earning the governor’s signature on these bills is a great way to complete my final term in the House,” Frederick said. “Both of these measures were brought forward in a bipartisan manner with a focus on offering more opportunities in the learning environment. With these reforms, adult learners seeking their first degree or certification will be better supported on community college campuses and families with young children who use American Sign Language to communicate will have more resources to track the progress of their language acquisition.”
