State Rep. Doug Wozniak (R-Shelby Township) this week voted in support of a bipartisan package to expand Michigan’s investment in advanced nuclear and hydrogen energy. The package, House Bills 4124-4129, creates new tax incentives, education grants, and workforce development programs to encourage innovation and ensure a strong, affordable energy future for Michigan families and job providers.
“This plan is about planning ahead and making sure Michigan has the energy infrastructure it needs to stay strong and self-reliant,” said Wozniak. “Advanced nuclear energy gives us the opportunity to provide reliable, carbon-free power without driving up costs for families or businesses. I want Michigan to be a place where we can power our economy responsibly, protect our environment, and keep energy affordable for everyone.”
The bipartisan proposal offers targeted tax credits for research and development in small modular reactors and clean hydrogen production, while also creating new grant programs to support education and workforce training in Michigan’s growing energy sector.
“Michigan has always been a state of innovators and builders and our approach to energy should be no different,” said Wozniak. “By embracing advanced nuclear technology, we can create high-quality jobs, modernize our power grid, and secure a cleaner, more reliable energy future for the next generation. This is a smart, forward-looking investment in Michigan’s long-term success.”
