Rep. Johnson Calls On Governor to Open Restaurants Following House Oversight Committee
RELEASE|February 18, 2021

State Rep. Steve Johnson (R-Wayland), who chairs the House Oversight Committee, today issued the following statement calling on Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to immediately readdress her administration’s ongoing 25-percent capacity limit for indoor dining:

“After hearing the numerous testimonies from restaurant owners whose businesses have been devastated by the recent bans and capacity restrictions, I am calling on the Governor and the DHHS to expand restaurant and bar capacity.

“These restrictions not only decimate the financial health of these businesses, but have a profound impact on the lives of those that work in the food service industry. The government cannot continue to take away their livelihoods. Governor Whitmer, it is time to restore the food service industry by allowing them to open up and operate safely.”
