State Rep. Nancy DeBoer (R-Holland) today applauded the Michigan Strategic Fund’s (MSF) approval of key incentives to support the expansion of Hudsonville Creamery and Ice Cream Company, a major investment that will bring new jobs and economic growth to the Holland community.
The MSF approved a Michigan Business Development Program (MBDP) grant of up to $700,000 and a 15-year, 100% State Essential Services Assessment (SESA) Exemption valued at up to $599,275. These incentives will support the company’s expansion in the City of Holland, which includes a projected capital investment of over $40 million.
“This is a huge win for Holland and West Michigan,” said DeBoer. “Hudsonville Creamery has deep roots in our region, and their continued growth speaks volumes about the strength of our local workforce and the strong business climate we’re committed to maintaining. I’m proud to have worked alongside Senator Roger Victory and Congressman Bill Huizenga to support this project and help secure the needed resources to make it happen.”
The investment includes the renovation and expansion of Hudsonville’s existing facility to accommodate a new novelty bar production line. This includes leasehold improvements, such as plumbing, HVAC, and electrical upgrades, as well as the purchase of new machinery and equipment. The project will create at least 44 new jobs in Holland, with starting wages of $22 per hour plus benefits, which exceeds the regional median wage.
“This project reflects the kind of innovative development we love to see,” said DeBoer. “It strengthens our local economy and offers good-paying jobs right here in Holland.”
