After an announcement today by General Motors Co. that it will invest $7 billion in four Michigan locations, maintaining and creating an estimated 5,000 jobs, state Rep. Ken Borton, of Gaylord, issued the following statement, saying the investment was facilitated by legislative approval of an economic development plan last December:

“These historic new investments by GM will build Michigan’s economy with thousands of new jobs while building new vehicles for Michigan and the world. More business in our state is always welcome.

“GM has played a major role in our state’s economy and history, and our new economic development plan is playing an important role in the company’s next effort to expand in Michigan.”
